Danielle DiGiacomi began dancing at the age of 3, and is a former graduate of Somerville Dance Academy. An accomplished tapper, she competed with the Canadian National Tap team, winning Gold in 2006. As she developed as a dancer, her love for teaching and choreography took over, and she has now been instructing at SDA for 10 years.
Danielle is a registered member of the Performing Arts Educators of Canada (PAEC) with a membership in Tap as well as enthusiastic member of the PAEC Jazz and Hip Hop committees. Danielle enjoys sharing her passion for dance in schools as well, teaching the dance portion of the gym curriculum for grades 5 to 8 at The Country Day School. Danielle has been recognized for her choreography in numerous competitions, and has choreographed for the McMaster University dance team.
Danielle is proud to be co-captain of SDA’s Relay for Life team – Dancing for Life. The team has raised over $100,000 for the Canadian Cancer Society through events and the annual choreography showcase. Danielle is looking forward to continuing her career as a dance instructor and choreographer, and is excited to share her passion for dance at Somerville Dance Academy!
An SDA alumni, Marisa has continued her education as an Early Childhood Educator as well as obtained her degree in Child Development at Seneca College. Marisa is furthering her education by attending Teachers College at York University. She continues her passion working with younger dancers to build confidence and create an inclusive environment for all dancers. She believes working with younger dancers is the key to building confidence. She encourages positive development with the dancers by learning through music and movement.
Stephanie’s dance education started at SDA at the age of 4. After graduating from SDA, she continued to compete at the university level, but ultimately fell in love with teaching. Stephanie choreographed for her University competitive team and other local studios, but she returned home to SDA in 2017 as part of the SDA faculty. Stephanie’s training has allowed her to travel to Germany with the Canadian National Tap team to compete in the World Tap Dance Championships in 2009, 2011 and 2014. Stephanie continues to teach many disciplines at SDA with a focus on Tap and Jazz for both the recreational and competitive programs!
